What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at THOMAS OILFIELD SERVICES LLC?
Develop and implement purchasing strategies for multiple independent business segments.
Oversee the purchase order management process end-to-end.
Identify new potential suppliers, complete vetting process when new vednors are added in coordination with sourcing
Review, compare, analyze and approve products and services to be purchased
Manage inventories and ensure product stocking levels are maintained. Recommending and managing quantities (lot size) to maximize cost management
Develop and Implement purchasing policies and processes
Ability to expedite orders with vendors to meet production and make substitute recommendations of items within guidelines
Negotiate and develop vendor relationships on equipment repair, welding, service parts, and general MRO categories
Balance competing priorities while having a sense of urgency to meet business needs
Ability to work in both a team-based environment as well as capable of working independently
Experience in calculating total cost of ownership of material and services.
As the Purchasing Manager will evolve into a people leader role this position is responsible for all purchasing as pertains to the business segments within their scope regardless of reporting lines.
Qualifications:
High school Diploma, G.E.D, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Supply Chain Management, or related field (experience may substitute for education).
Prior experience in Procurement and/or a Sourcing role with a minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role — preferably in oil & gas, or other heavy-industrial sectors.
Experience working within ERP systems, (Oracle, NetSuite highly desirable).
Demonstrated proficiency with office systems (word, teams, excel) with the ability to analyze data using these systems
Ability to work in 24/7 environment with short lead times.
Capability to travel (15%) to job sites and/or vendor locations as required
Balance multiple tasks in a challenging, fast-paced work environment.
Ability to document, plan, and execute initiatives with established project management skills
Customer service mindset with attention to detail with the ability to think strategically across the entire company developing solutions.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with changing demands. Must be responsive and willing to move quickly.
Impeccable integrity with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
