Ob/Gyn Certified Nurse Midwife - Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Center Ci

Shift Requirements:

• Rotatingbetween office and Lamp;D.
• Rotate between days, nights, weekends and holidays.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Certified Nurse ndash; Midwife serves as a member within the General Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The CNM is responsible for full ndash; scope midwifery care to women in the Greater Philadelphia area. The CNM provides independent clinical management of essentially healthy women, including: routine office well woman care, management of minor gynecologic issues, antepartum/ intrapartum/ postpartum care, and immediate cre of the newborn. The CNM will work in both the outpatient and inpatient clinical care settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides outpatient and inpatient maternity services, well woman health care, family planning care, and treatment of minor gynecologic conditions in a variety of settings.
• Outpatient sites consist of faculty practice office, a resident based clinic, and a number of community based health centers.
• Provide clinical leadersip to each City Health Center practice site team. A team typically consists of an RN, social worker, one or two medical assistants, and an registration clerk.
• Cover call for two 12- hour perios in a seven day cycle at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Independently care for women with essentially normal labor and spontaneous vaginal deliveries, precept and teach residents and medical/ midwifery students, participate in postpartum rounds, and provide telephone/ triage unit coverage.
• Consult / collaborate with ob/gyn colleagues as determined by collaborative agreement and acuity of patient needs.
• Will participate in various Department, University and Hospital committees; attend meetings within the Division, and other divisions at the discretion of the Division Director
• Provided didactic lectures and simulation experiences for residnets, medical/ nursing students

• Education / Training:
  • Bachelors in Nursing degree, completion of an accredited CNM program and then pass the national qualifying exam
• Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:
  • Nursing license, credentialed with the American Midwifery certification board
• Experience Requirements:
  • 1-3 yearsrsquo; experience
