What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Project Manager position at Thomas Industrial Coatings?
POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Vice-President of Operations and assigned Project Manager, this position will assist in planning, executing, evaluating, and leading projects according to predetermined timelines and budgets. This position is also responsible for safe work procedures and the safety of everyone within their scope of authority. Responsibility in the office and/or on projects will vary as deemed appropriate by the Vice-President of Operations and assigned Project Manager. This position will work primarily in the Greater Kansas City area.
TASKS:
- Assist in preparing project schedule
- Assist in preparing a site safety plan
- Assist in preparing a field foreman notebook
- Assist in setting up/selecting vendors, suppliers and subcontracts
- Assist in conducting pre-project take-off meeting with the operations team
- Assist in mobilizing and/or demobilizing equipment and supplies to project site(s).
- Help develop load list and work with purchasing agent to acquire materials
- Help to ensure projects start with the estimated personnel and materials necessary
- Assist in tracking labor and materials daily
- Provide daily, written log of all projects assigned to appropriate personnel
- Assist in returning all equipment and materials to vendors and/ or rental companies
- Assist in preparing project close out and conducting post-audit
- Assist project manager in ensuring safe operations and procedures are utilized on projects
- Involvement in and enforcing the provisions of this accident prevention program and any other rules established
- Help to ensure personnel assigned to each project have the proper certifications/ qualifications
- Help to verify the supervisors on each assigned project are regularly performing safety meetings, and jobsite inspections
- Assisting in the development and review of activity of hazard analyses
- Assisting in the investigation of violations of this Accident Prevention Program
- Maintain daily communication with assigned project Foreman to ensure scope of work is safely complete per the project specifications
- Reviewing daily foreman reports, expense reports, safety meetings, daily inspection reports and accident investigations prepared by the supervisors under their authority
- Participating, when possible, in weekly toolbox safety meetings conducted by supervisors
- Assisting other departments (business development, shop, safety, accounting, etc.) with other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Vice President of Operations and assigned Project Manager.

- Physical Ability – Ability to climb, walk, stand or sit for a minimum of 8 hrs. When necessary, must be able to navigate at heights and in tight spaces as well as walk on uneven surfaces

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and/ or experience in a construction industry related field preferred
- OSHA 30
- Valid driver’s license
