Thomas Heyward Academy is hiring an assistant preschool teacher for our K-1 classroom. We are seeing a passionate and experienced Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team and work with children in our K-1 class. The ideal candidate will help assist the lead teacher to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of young learners. They will also have a passion for working with young children. Experience in the classroom is preferred. Must have a HS Diploma (or higher)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the lead teacher to implement age appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards
- Foster a nurturing and positive classroom environment that supports children's social and emotional development
- Assess and document children's progress, providing regular feedback to families
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and support staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching program
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators
Qualifications:
- High School diploma (or higher)
- Previous experience working with preschool age children
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Passionate about early childhood education and child development
