POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Planner is responsible for production planning, material expediting, and shop floor scheduling and labor/capacity planning. The Production Planner will not only participate, but take a lead role in continuous improvement activities of diverse scope and complexity to improve the efficiency of manufacturing systems and processes. In addition, they will monitor production work order progress and identify possible problem areas in time to take corrective action.
MAJOR DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
· Plan, schedule, coordinate and approve release of production orders to manufacturing based on material and capacity availability.
· Provide input to management; reschedule and/or interface with customer program management, master scheduling, customers and operations to reschedule production in the event of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.
· Utilize ERP software and supporting worksheets that support production planning, capacity planning, and operational management.
· Develop, select and/or customize continuous improvement methods to effectively implement lean manufacturing for varied production and business processes.
· Analyze customer demand information, forecasts, orders, machine, labor and material availability and develop a flexible yet efficient master schedule.
· If needed expedite equipment and materials to ensure customer deliveries are in accordance with schedule.
· Interface with the Engineering team to receive technical support during manufacturing and delivery of product.
· Creates documents describing procedures and systems.
· Performs routine clerical duties as necessary.
· Inputs production parts, scrap, receipt, customer order, and sales figures into system.
· Assist in inventory information set-up and updates and enters physical inventory counts.
· Creates and runs inventory reports, reviews reports, makes system information adjustments when necessary.
· Performs inventory sample audits.
· Keeps track of component parts inventory at both warehouse and plant site and coordinate transfer between the two locations.
· The role will include the undertaking of planning responsibilities for projects and tenders, the development of critically linked detailed programs, evaluation of time analysis, production of progress review reports and support for Project and Commercial teams.
· Excellent computer skills including: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, report writing, and desktop publishing.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Strong written and verbal communications skills.
· Run various production reports.
· Assist with filing and data input as required.
· Generate a monthly forecast/three month forecast to the production cells.
· Maintain running 12 month production plan.
