Job Summary:
The Prep Cook is responsible for providing a supportive role to kitchen staff in the preparation of meals and ingredients. Prep Cooks perform various food preparation, cooking and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering the necessary items for Cafe service and events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Setting up and sanitizing work stations
- Following prep lists created by the Prep Manager
- Measuring ingredients and seasonings, and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock to be used in the cooking process.
- Preparing tea parties, sauces, dressings, chicken salad, pasta, etc.
- Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible
- Assisting Prep Manager in preparing food for events and attending to any culinary tasks that arise.
- Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
- Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.
- Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Prep or Kitchen Manager.
- Washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and meats.
- Measuring quantities of seasonings and other ingredients.
- Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing the kitchen.
- Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.
- Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply.
- Other duties as assigned by Prep Manager

Physical Requirements:
- Typical work week- 30 hours/week
- Physical Requirements: Position requires prolonged standing (2-3 hours), bending, stooping, twisting, lifting 15 lbs or more, and repetitive hand/wrist motion.
