What You'll Do
As our Employee Support Coordinator for Dark Harbor, you are the direct link between our employees and their pay. You'll own payroll support processing for our event operation—including a large seasonal workforce—while serving as the go-to resource for employees who have questions, concerns, or needs related to their compensation. This role requires sharp working knowledge of California wage and hour law, including daily overtime, meal and rest period compliance. Accuracy, responsiveness, and trust are the foundation of this role—because when our people feel taken care of, they can focus on creating extraordinary experiences for our guests.

Employee Payroll Liaison

  • Serve as the dedicated, employee-facing point of contact for all payroll-related questions and concerns for the team

  • Respond promptly and accurately to employee inquiries related to timekeeping, paychecks, and data updates.

  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly, escalating to the Payroll when appropriate and always closing the loop with the employee

  • Coordinate with location managers and supervisors to ensure timekeeping accuracy, communicate payroll deadlines, and resolve submission issues before each processing cycle

  • Communicate payroll schedule changes, system updates, or California compliance-related impacts to employees and site leadership in a clear and timely manner

California Time & Attendance Compliance

  • Apply and monitor California-specific wage and hour rules, including daily overtime (over 8 hours), double time (over 12 hours), and seventh-consecutive-day rules

  • Track and audit meal period compliance—ensuring first and second meal periods are provided in accordance with California law and that missed period premiums are captured and paid correctly

  • Monitor rest period compliance and ensure rest period premium pay is applied when required

Payroll Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain data integrity within Paycom through regular audits, record updates, and system reconciliations

  • Support internal and external payroll audits by preparing documentation and records

Qualifications:

What You Bring

  • 2 years of California payroll processing experience required

  • Direct, hands-on experience applying California wage and hour law—daily overtime, meal/rest premiums, split shifts, and final pay rules

  • Proficiency with a cloud-based HRIS/payroll platform—Paycom experience strongly preferred

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines without errors

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills—you are approachable, clear, and calm when employees are frustrated or confused

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets)

  • Experience supporting a seasonal or large variable-hour workforce strongly preferred; entertainment, hospitality, or events-industry background a plus

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
