What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Director position at Thirst Drinks?
Marketing Director
Thirst | Full-Time | In-Person | Salt Lake City, Utah
Salary: Approximately $75,000/year based on experience up to $15,000 annual performance bonus
About Thirst:
Thirst is a fast-growing Utah-based food and beverage brand built around one simple mission: Provide happiness, one experience at a time.
We serve specialty drinks, fresh-baked treats, and a whole lot of personality. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a talented, highly organized, creative, and execution-focused Marketing Director to take ownership of the Thirst brand and our day-to-day marketing efforts.
This is not a position where you simply develop marketing strategies and hand them off to someone else. We are looking for someone who can lead, coordinate, and execute.
You'll have resources around you, including a full-time Content Creator/Social Media Manager, a contracted graphic designer, professional photographers, influencers, store teams, and outside partners. Your job is to bring all of those pieces together and make sure Thirst marketing is executed at a high level, on time, and on brand.
You are the final line of defense for marketing at Thirst.
What You'll Own:
Social Media & Content
Oversee the execution of Thirst's social media presence across all platforms.
You'll work directly with our full-time Content Creator/Social Media Manager to coordinate content creation, posting schedules, community management, trends, campaigns, and overall social strategy.
While you will have support executing the day-to-day content, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring our social channels remain active, relevant, engaging, consistent, and on brand.
You'll also oversee and execute our paid social media advertising, with a current budget of approximately $5,000 per month, and continually evaluate performance and opportunities to improve results.
Weekly Features & Promotions
Thirst operates on a fast-moving promotional calendar with rotating menu features, limited-time products, and weekly promotions.
You will own the coordination of this calendar and ensure every piece of marketing is ready to launch, including:
• In-store print materials and signage
• Menu updates
• Social media content
• Influencer marketing
• Email marketing
• Text/SMS marketing
• Paid advertising
• Digital assets
• Internal communication to store teams
You'll also coordinate and execute recurring promotions such as Text Tuesday, weekend deals, product launches, and other weekly initiatives.
Menu & POS Management
Own marketing-related menu changes and updates within our Toast POS system.
You'll coordinate product launches, pricing and promotional changes, rotating features, menu updates, and other changes to ensure what customers see in-store and digitally is accurate and consistent.
Attention to detail is extremely important. When a promotion launches, every customer-facing touchpoint needs to match.
Influencer Marketing
Manage and grow the Thirst influencer program.
You'll identify influencers who align with the brand, coordinate outreach, manage relationships, organize visits and collaborations, distribute campaign information, and ensure influencer partnerships translate into meaningful awareness and engagement.
Photography & Creative Direction
Plan, manage, and direct our monthly professional photo shoots.
You'll determine what products, promotions, campaigns, and assets need to be captured and work with our professional photography partner to ensure we consistently have high-quality creative available.
You'll also work directly with our contracted graphic designer to request, coordinate, review, and approve marketing materials.
You do not need to personally be a graphic designer, photographer, or full-time content creator. You do need to have a strong creative eye and be able to clearly communicate what the brand needs.
Store Marketing & Events
Coordinate the execution of a minimum of two local store events per location, per quarter.
This includes working with store leadership on ideas, scheduling, promotion, logistics, community partnerships, and execution.
You'll also be expected to attend store events regularly and be willing to jump in wherever necessary. Sometimes marketing means planning a campaign from the office. Sometimes it means being at a packed store helping execute an event.
Mileage for required store travel is reimbursed.
Store Signage & Brand Standards
Oversee store signage and marketing materials across all Thirst locations.
You'll ensure stores have the correct materials, outdated promotions are removed, new campaigns are installed properly, and everything customers see feels polished and consistent with the Thirst brand.
Company-Wide Marketing Campaigns
In addition to our normal rotating marketing calendar, you'll create and execute a minimum of two major company-wide campaigns per quarter designed specifically to generate awareness, traffic, engagement, and sales.
Analytics & Performance
Marketing at Thirst needs to be creative, but it also needs to produce results.
You'll monitor marketing spend, campaign performance, social media growth, paid advertising, promotional results, and other key metrics.
You'll regularly analyze what's working, what isn't, and what we should do differently, and present those findings and recommendations to the corporate team.
Leadership & Collaboration
You'll work closely with our corporate team, store leadership, and outside marketing partners.
You'll participate in weekly corporate and management meetings to communicate upcoming promotions, campaigns, menu changes, events, and marketing priorities.
You'll also be responsible for making sure the organization knows what is happening, when it's happening, and what each team needs to do to execute it successfully.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
• Extremely organized and able to manage many moving pieces simultaneously
• Creative and excited about building a fun consumer brand
• Highly accountable and comfortable owning results
• Strong at both strategy and execution
• Experienced with social media and digital marketing
• Comfortable analyzing marketing performance and making data-driven decisions
• Detail-oriented and able to catch mistakes before customers see them
• A strong communicator who can coordinate employees, vendors, influencers, designers, photographers, and store managers
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly
• Willing to jump in and solve problems instead of saying, "That's not my job"
• Excited about restaurants, food, beverages, hospitality, retail, or consumer brands
Experience with multi-location restaurant or retail marketing and Toast POS is a major plus.
Schedule & Expectations
This is a full-time, in-person position with an expectation of approximately 45 hours per week.
Because this is a leadership position with ownership over the marketing function, there will occasionally be weeks, events, launches, or deadlines that require additional time.
This isn't a clock-in, clock-out marketing role. We're looking for someone who takes ownership and makes sure the job gets done.
Some nights, weekends, and local travel will be required for store events, openings, photo shoots, campaigns, and other marketing activities.
Compensation
Base Salary: Approximately $75,000 per year, depending on experience
Performance Bonus: Up to $15,000 per year
Bonus goals will be clearly defined and tied to measurable marketing performance, which may include areas such as:
• Social media growth
• Content consistency and posting standards
• Viral content and reach
• Campaign execution
• Brand awareness
• Promotional performance
• Marketing-driven sales growth
• Successful execution of company-wide initiatives
Total potential annual compensation: approximately $90,000.
Why Thirst?
Thirst is growing, evolving, and constantly trying new things. This role has the opportunity to make a very visible impact on the company.
We're not looking for someone to simply maintain what we've already built. We're looking for someone who wants to make Thirst bigger, louder, more recognizable, and more loved. If you're creative, organized, competitive, accountable, and get excited about seeing an idea go from a conversation to something thousands of customers actually experience, we'd love to meet you.
