Global Controller

ThinkWell
Washington, DC Remote Full Time
POSTED ON 10/15/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/15/2026

The Global Controller reports to the Finance Director / CFO and provides the full finance and accounting function across multiple countries and the global office.  The Global Controller will manage accounting books, defend indirect rates and ensure compliance.  This is a US based remote position.

About the role

Six months in, you will have an enterprise-level month-end close that runs on a predictable calendar, US payroll processed accurately, and international payroll, VAT, and tax filings overseen and on time. Your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts and indirect cost structure will be sound and audit ready. The international finance and accounting coordinators will be working to clear standards, and you will have improved the policies and processes that need it.

What you’ll do

  • Own the month-end close at the enterprise level, covering all project offices and the US entity, through financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounting, taxation, and reporting for international project offices. Review their transactions and see that they are posted accurately to the US books.
  • Process US payroll and oversee international payroll in each country, with attention to compliance and controls.
  • Oversee local-country VAT and tax reporting and procurement practices at each site.
  • Manage AP, AR, and treasury, including cash positions, FX exposure, and bank relationships.
  • Build and manage the chart of accounts in QBO and calculate and apply indirect costs in line with contract and government requirements.
  • Handle projects and corporate accounting, and support contract billing, budgets, and audits across different government contract types.
  • Partner with site F&A Directors and support the CFO/Finance Director on US books, payroll, and tax reporting.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop international finance and accounting coordinators.
  • Build new processes and improve existing policies, documenting them for consistent use across offices.
  • Other duties as assigned
