We are seeking an experienced Systems Manager to lead the technical delivery of eDiscovery and litigation-support services within a complex federal litigation environment.

This position will manage a multidisciplinary team that may include data processors, systems analysts, database administrators, and other technical personnel. The Systems Manager will also remain actively involved in RelativityOne administration, litigation productions, analytics, PowerShell scripting, application support, technical troubleshooting, and systems security.

The successful candidate must possess strong technical leadership skills, extensive eDiscovery experience, and the ability to work directly with attorneys, case managers, technical staff, and other project stakeholders. This is a hands-on management position requiring the ability to supervise technical employees while also resolving complex litigation-technology issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical operations of an eDiscovery and litigation-support program.
  • Supervise data processors, systems analysts, database administrators, and other technical personnel.
  • Assign work, establish priorities, monitor performance, and resolve technical or operational issues affecting the team.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, case managers, project leadership, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Create, configure, maintain, archive, restore, and migrate RelativityOne workspaces.
  • Manage complex litigation productions involving load-ready data, searchable PDF files, native files, metadata, and other required production formats.
  • Create, operate, troubleshoot, and repair Relativity Review, analytics, and Active Learning projects.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding electronically stored information, discovery workflows, production specifications, and litigation-support processes.
  • Support technical discussions associated with discovery planning and Rule 26(f) conferences.
  • Develop complex PowerShell scripts to automate technical, administrative, reporting, or production-related activities.
  • Review, troubleshoot, and correct PowerShell scripts developed by other technical team members.
  • Create statistical reports covering data collection, filtering, processing, review, analytics, and production activities.
  • Manage user-support and help-desk functions for litigation applications and technical services.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user documentation, training materials, and operating procedures.
  • Oversee the deployment and support of applications used by established user groups.
  • Manage Windows-based systems, browser-based applications, databases, servers, storage, and available system capacity.
  • Support configuration management, risk analysis, disaster recovery, and business-continuity planning.
  • Ensure that system, application, and data-security requirements are properly implemented and maintained.
  • Monitor emerging eDiscovery technologies and recommend improvements to tools, processes, and technical workflows.
  • Ensure that technical deliverables meet functional requirements, quality standards, security requirements, and established deadlines.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, professional development, and performance management of technical employees.

Required Qualifications

  • At least six years of first-line management experience supervising technical personnel.
  • Extensive experience working in an eDiscovery or litigation-support environment.
  • Strong understanding of the litigation discovery process and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, or EDRM.
  • Hands-on experience administering RelativityOne workspaces throughout the complete workspace lifecycle.
  • Experience managing complex litigation productions involving load-ready data, searchable PDF files, native files, metadata, and production quality control.
  • Demonstrated experience developing complex PowerShell scripts.
  • Ability to review, troubleshoot, and correct PowerShell scripts created by other technical staff.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, operating, and supporting Windows-based systems and applications.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining browser-based applications.
  • Experience establishing or managing user-support and help-desk services.
  • Experience developing or deploying applications to an established user community.
  • Experience managing technical priorities, resolving escalated issues, and delivering work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, case managers, technical employees, and project leadership.
  • Strong systems-analysis, technical-leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical quality control.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, or a related field.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to complete the required Public Trust process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trial-support experience.
  • Experience with Relativity Review, Active Learning, analytics, or Relativity aiR.
  • Experience with CaseMap, TextMap, and Microsoft Access.
  • Experience providing technical guidance to attorneys regarding Client protocols and production specifications.
  • Experience participating in Rule 26(f) conferences or similar discovery-planning discussions.
  • Experience establishing a dedicated local area network for litigation or trial support.
  • Experience creating specialized databases or customized applications used to analyze litigation case data.
  • Experience managing servers, databases, storage capacity, disaster recovery, or configuration-management processes.
