Line Cook – Thingz From Yaad

We’re looking for a Line Cook who takes pride in their craft and cooks with heart. In this role, you’ll help bring our menu to life, from jerk chicken to curry goat, ensuring every plate reflects the quality, culture, and care that define Thingz From Yaad.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute menu items with consistency, speed, and attention to detail
• Work across multiple stations and support the team wherever needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen at all times
• Work on open grill, fry, or sauté stations during service
• Cook items like jerk chicken, fried plantains, and curries to perfection.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
• Ensure all dishes meet Thingz From Yaad’s quality and presentation standards
• Communicate clearly with kitchen and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth service
• Assist with daily prep, inventory, and maintaining accurate prep lists
• Properly store, label, and rotate food using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
• Monitor food quality, portioning, and minimize waste
• Help maintain and care for kitchen equipment
• Support training and teamwork by assisting other cooks when needed
• Assist with proper opening and closing duties.

Position Requirements

• Minimum of 1–2 years of line cook or kitchen experience preferred
• A general understanding of Jamaican food and culture
• Ability to mix different spices to achieve specific island flavors (not a requirement but experience is a plus)
• Passion for food and willingness to learn Jamaican cuisine and flavors
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Strong sense of responsibility, cleanliness, and organization
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet for extended periods

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
