Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced payroll professional that will manage all aspects of the payroll function, including ensuring employees are paid timely and accurately. Experience with Union payroll is a plus.
The candidate in this role will be trained by the incumbent that is retiring in 2025. 50% travel to Merrillville, IN is required in the first 6 months of hire.

Essential And Required Qualifications And Skills
- 2-3 years of payroll planning, processing and reporting experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to not only organize tasks to get work accomplished, but also to organize time needed to execute tasks proficiently.
- Midline to advanced MS Office, Excel and email skills.
- Understanding of the basic principles of finance and bookkeeping
- High Level of accuracy and the competency to build speed of transaction processing
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work seated at a desk, for 8 hours or longer.
- Able to perform two-handed work with the manual dexterity to type on a keyboard and operate a mouse.
- Sage, Foundation, or Vista software.
- Union payroll.
- Multi-state payroll.
- Maintain complete confidentiality related to personal, financial and proprietary information.
- Assist in streamlining and improving existing payroll processes.
- Create tracking tools that enable quick access to important information.
- Provide accurate wages for inclusion in the company bidding process.
- Verify New Hire paperwork is complete and accurate
- Complete E-verify and I-9 verifications
- Enter new hires
- Process weekly field payroll
- Process weekly field reimbursements
- Update Weekly field payroll reports
- Create, audit and deliver Certified payroll.
- Prepare payroll that will pass union audits 100% of the time.
- Process Payroll Taxes (Weekly and Quarterly)
- Process Terminations and Layoffs
- Coordinate pay with field staff
- Process final paychecks
- Process Union reports and submissions
- Update Pension spreadsheets
- Process Monthly Union Dues payments
- Process W-2’s annually
- Perform year-end financial close support activities
- Appropriately process benefits
- Process Multistate payroll tax filings
