Press Operator Trainee
Location: Marina, CA

Reports to: Lead Press Operator/Shift Supervisor
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Pay Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday; overtime may be occasionally required
About the Role
We are a manufacturer of quality labels and packaging seeking a Press Operator Trainee for our Marina, CA facility. The Press Operator Trainee will learn to perform duties related to flexographic printing machines and software programs to effectively create materials per client request. This role will be trained to produce printed materials by following printing job specifications, setting up, operating, adjusting, and maintaining printing equipment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Read job tickets and set up jobs according to client printing specifications
- Operate flexographic printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials
- Mix paint and inks to blend with materials being printed per job order specifications
- Monitor printing quality by adjusting ink distribution, speed levels, and machine temperature
- Inspect finished materials for clarity, accuracy, quality, and finishing
- Troubleshoot stoppages, breakdowns, and printing errors
- Maintain printing equipment through preventive maintenance and proper lubrication
- Ensure color heads, rollers, ink fountains, production plates, and ink containers are cleaned
- Manage inventory and ensure printing equipment and materials are adequately stocked
- Evaluate job orders to manage multiple printing projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Assist with duties in other departments as needed
- Work in a manner consistent with all corporate, regulatory, safety, and quality requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong attention to detail and mathematical skills
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Versatility and flexibility to work within constantly changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Warehouse or manufacturing experience is a plus
- Previous forklift certification is a plus
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Most job duties will be performed in a warehouse/production environment. This position requires:
- Ability to repetitively lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs
- Prolonged standing, bending, and carrying/moving equipment and supplies
- Ability to work with constant interruptions and urgent changes in job priorities
