What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hardware Team Lead position at Theta Neurotech?
Company: Theta Neurotech
Location: Remote / Flexible (U.S. preferred)
Engagement: Fractional / Part-Time
Theta Neurotech is developing a next-generation wearable EEG patch for continuous brain monitoring and seizure prediction. Our device has already demonstrated comparability to clinical EEG systems in controlled settings, and we are now advancing toward late-stage R&D and design freeze.
We are seeking a Fractional Hardware Lead to guide our wearable EEG patch through late-stage development, system integration, and design freeze. This role is ideal for a highly experienced hardware leader who can operate strategically while also supporting execution across engineering, regulatory, and manufacturing workstreams.
- Lead hardware development through design freeze and pre-production readiness
- Oversee system architecture, integration, and validation of the wearable EEG device
- Support and advise on QMS development and implementation for hardware workflows
- Ensure alignment with clinical requirements and real-world usage constraints
- Guide compliance efforts across IEC and ISO standards (e.g., safety, biocompatibility, EMC)
- Leverage and coordinate a network of specialized engineers (EE, RF, embedded, mechanical, materials, etc.)
- Assist in identifying and managing external partners (manufacturers, test labs, certification bodies)
- 5–10 years of experience developing wearable or medical hardware systems
- Proven track record bringing products through late-stage R&D → design freeze → manufacturing
- Strong understanding of clinical environments, workflows, and constraints
- Experience building or operating within a hardware Quality Management System (QMS)
- Familiarity with relevant IEC and ISO standards for medical devices
- Deep network of hardware engineers and vendors across key disciplines
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment
- Work on a cutting-edge neurotechnology platform with significant clinical impact
- Join a well-capitalized early-stage company with strong technical momentum
- Flexible, high-impact role with direct influence on product and regulatory strategy
