Position Summary
The Assembler position (Pre-Expander) performs hands-on manufacturing and assembly activities supporting production operations. This role prepares, trims, assembles, cleans, and stages components for downstream processes and shipment while maintaining safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in a fast-paced production environment. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role supports efficient plant operations through teamwork, attention to detail, and consistent adherence to operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove plastic flashing using hand files, scrapers, sanders, and related tools to produce properly fitting and cosmetically acceptable parts.
- Cut, grind, trim, and prepare composite and plastic parts to required specifications.
- Prepare components for foaming and other downstream production processes.
- Assemble products using adhesives, bolts, screws, rivets, and other fastening methods.
- Clean and inspect finished products prior to shipment.
- Use hand pallet jacks to move materials and products safely throughout the work area.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition and report repair needs promptly.
- Practice efficient use of shop supplies and production materials.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and an organized work environment.
- Follow all safety requirements and proper handling procedures for equipment, raw materials, and finished products.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to three months of manufacturing, assembly, production, or related experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions, work orders, correspondence, and production documentation.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements, including accurate use of a tape measure.
- Ability to follow one- and two-step instructions and work with limited supervision.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and material-handling equipment.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Regular standing and walking are required. Employees frequently use hands and arms and may occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, speak, and hear. The position requires occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds. Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and elevated noise levels. Respiratory and hearing protection may be required based on work assignments.
