Thermoforming Set-Up Technician
Location: Elkton, MD 21921
Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Saturdays as needed)
Summary
We are seeking a skilled Thermoforming Set-Up Technician to support our plastics thermoforming production team. This position is responsible for equipment setup, tooling changes, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The Set-Up Technician may also operate machinery as needed to support production goals.
Responsibilities
- Set up thermoforming machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Install tooling, adjust machine settings, and verify equipment performance.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment downtime, quality defects, and processing issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis to reduce equipment failures and improve productivity.
- Replace and adjust machine parts as required.
- Maintain accurate production paperwork and logs.
- Keep workspace clean, safe, and organized.
- Follow all company safety policies including lockout/tagout.
- Escalate unresolved technical issues to the Plant Manager.
Qualifications: SENCORP, ARMAC, LYLE, BROWN MACHINES
Required: INLINE STEEL RULE DIECUTTING EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of mechanical or industrial maintenance experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to read/interpret documents, drawings, and safety instructions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
Preferred: CURRENT INLINE THERMOFORMING EXPERIENCE.
- 3 years in manufacturing
- 2 years plastics production experience
- Thermoforming or packaging equipment experience
- Technical/mechanical training or certification
Skills
- Mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting
- Use of calipers, tape measures, gauges, and hand/power tools
- Basic math (fractions, decimals)
- Computer skills — HMI troubleshooting experience a plus
- Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Team-oriented communication and collaboration
Work Environment
- Fast-paced production floor
- Exposure to varying temperatures (heat, humidity, cold)
- Frequent bending, stooping, and material handling
