Injection Molding Maintenance Technician

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to ensure efficient and continuous production. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will be a proactive individual with a commitment to safety and quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on injection molding machines (Engel and Krauss Maffei ranging from 500 – 3200 tons) and auxiliary equipment according to established schedules and procedures
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic malfunctions on injection molding machines and related equipment
• Perform repairs and replacements of defective parts, including but not limited to pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, screws, barrels, and electrical components
• Assist in the installation and setup of new injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, parts usage, and preventative maintenance activities, utilizing our ERP System
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including wiring, sensors, and control systems
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance procedures and equipment reliability
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime
• Assist in the training of other maintenance personnel as needed
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
• Reliable attendance
• Other duties as assigned in Management’s sole discretion

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

• Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in an injection molding environment
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as they relate to injection molding machinery
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment malfunctions effectively and efficiently
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and procedures
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
• Basic computer skills, including experience with IQMS (ERP System) a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience maintaining and repairing large tonnage (=< 3200 tons) injection molding machines
• Experience with Engel and Krauss Maffei injection molding machines
• Welding and fabrication (Class 2/3) experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels within a manufacturing environment
• Will be required to drive forklift
