Description:
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll be part of a collaborative team supporting supply chain operations for our scientific products and services. As a Supply Chain Specialist II, you'll manage procurement, planning, and logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of products that help make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. This role combines analytical thinking with practical implementation to optimize inventory levels, coordinate with stakeholders, and support continuous improvement in our supply chain processes. You'll work with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, finance, and commercial operations to deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining efficient operations.

How will you make an impact?
The Replenishment Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving distribution requirements and inventory replenishment plans for assigned product lines. This role supports product availability, inventory optimization, service levels, and working capital objectives by translating supply requirements and inventory signals into actionable replenishment plans.

  • Product availability and customer service performance.

  • Inventory health, working capital, and excess / obsolete reduction.

  • Backorder reduction and recovery execution.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Replenishment Responsibilities

  • Own the distribution requirements planning process for assigned product lines to ensure inventory is positioned appropriately across plants, distribution centers, and regional stocking locations.

  • Translate approved demand plans into replenishment and distribution requirements that support customer service, inventory targets, and supply chain constraints.

  • Monitor finished goods inventory levels against forecast, actual sales, customer demand, and replenishment plans.

  • Review and adjust replenishment and distribution plans to reduce stock-out risk, excess inventory, obsolete inventory, and working capital exposure.

  • Identify supply, replenishment, and distribution gaps; escalate risks when demand cannot be met and recommend alternatives to satisfy customer requirements.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Planning, Logistics, Customer Service, and regional teams to support timely deliveries and backorder reduction.

  • Maintain and review planning parameters, including lead times, safety stock, min/max levels, lot sizes, and inventory targets.

  • Lead problem resolution activities related to availability, replenishment constraints, distribution issues, and customer delivery risks.

Compliance, Data Integrity & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, health & safety, and internal process requirements

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning processes and operational performance

  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy within ERP systems

How will you get here?
Education

  • Bachelor degree and 2 years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or Engineering

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience in demand planning, DRP, supply planning, inventory management, materials planning, or supply chain operations.

  • Experience working with ERP, MRP, DRP, or advanced planning systems.

  • Strong working knowledge of inventory optimization, safety stock strategy, and replenishment planning.

  • Preferred experience with SAP, Oracle, JDE or similar planning tools.

  • Preferred APICS / ASCM certification, such as CPIM or CSCP.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret demand trends, inventory data, and supply chain risks.

  • Ability to manage large data sets, identify root causes, and translate insights into practical planning actions.

  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyze, summarize, and present planning data.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, execute with urgency, and drive timely resolution of availability, replenishment, and customer delivery risks.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to improve planning processes, data accuracy, and operating discipline.

Communication, Collaboration & Business Mindset

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Planning, Logistics, and Customer Service teams.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize complex planning issues clearly and recommend practical actions.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment through the SIOP process.

  • Strong business mindset with understanding of how demand planning and DRP decisions impact customer service, inventory, working capital, and operating performance.

  • Ability to escalate risks appropriately, communicate trade-offs, and support decision-making across commercial and supply chain teams.

  • Experience in a manufacturing, life sciences, industrial, medical device, or regulated environment preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $66,000.00–$95,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
