Export Shipping Coordinator

Pay: $15.85–$23.77/hour | Eligible for variable annual bonus

Schedule: First Shift (Days), Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

About the Role

As an Export Shipper (Logistics / International Shipping), you will coordinate and execute international shipments, ensuring compliance with export regulations, accurate documentation, and safe handling of hazardous materials. This role is focused strictly on export execution and documentation and does not include export licensing or Global Trade Compliance (GTC) responsibilities, which are handled by a separate team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process export documentation including Commercial Invoices (CI), Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI), Certificates of Origin (COO), Certificates of Export, and other supporting documents
• Accurately complete and submit Automated Export System (AES) filings in a timely manner
• Coordinate and schedule international shipments with approved freight forwarders and carriers
• Ensure shipments comply with all applicable export shipping requirements and regulations (excluding licensing/GTC scope)
• Classify, package, label, and document hazardous materials (e.g., lithium batteries) in accordance with IATA, IMDG, and other standards
• Verify shipment accuracy including weights, dimensions, harmonized codes (when applicable), and destination requirements
• Maintain shipment records for audit and compliance purposes
• Collaborate with internal teams (warehouse, customer service, order management) to ensure readiness and accuracy of shipments
• Troubleshoot shipment issues, delays, and documentation discrepancies

Environment

• Warehouse and office environment
• Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, gowning, lab coats, and ear plugs as required
• Fast-paced setting with shifting priorities and deadlines
• Physical requirements:
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs (40 lbs without assistance noted in conditions)
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching
• Hands-on work packaging, labeling, and preparing shipments
• Use of warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and carts
• Ability to read and review documentation on screens and paper

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in export shipping, logistics, or international transportation
• Strong knowledge of export documentation and AES filing requirements
• Experience working with freight forwarders and international carriers
• Familiarity with hazardous materials shipping regulations (IATA/IMDG preferred)
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in ERP systems, shipping software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)

Preferred:

• Experience shipping hazardous goods such as lithium batteries
• Knowledge of international shipping best practices and country-specific requirements
• Experience in regulated industries (life sciences, manufacturing, etc.)

• Systems proficiency (ERP, Microsoft Office, shipping platforms)
• Strong organizational skills for documentation and recordkeeping

Equivalent Experience: Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
