What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Thermal Specialties?
Thermal Specialties is looking for a Shop Supervisor for our Tulsa Heat Treat division in Tulsa, OK.
The purpose of this position is to:
1) Supervise the manufacturing heat treating process at the Heat Treat Facility
2) Ensure order processing is completed to order recipe
3) Achieve maximum throughout within the available heat treating assets
4) Maintain an organized work flow using good housekeeping practices including order identification and designed locations for in process materials.
This position requires strong knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting. Good interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, and team building skills are required, in addition to good customer facing skills and a tool kit of structured problem solving techniques & methods.
The person in this position should be comfortable under pressure and capable of speaking to frustrated customers in a calm and helpful manner.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Prior work experiences should provide evidence of the aforementioned skills and traits.
- Manage manufacturing personnel: A solid, reliable, hard working manufacturing team has been developed or is in place.
- Teamwork is strong, productivity continues to improve, number of personnel is managed to ensure both customer service and acceptable gross margin levels.
- Execute shop schedule as defined by the Plant Manager: Orders are processed in the sequence and in the equipment defined by the Plant Manager.
- Shop Orders are monitored while processing to ensure the proper processing time and throughout maximization.
- Achieve strong process quality: Shop Order processing is performed strictly per the work order recipe.
- Maximize Throughout and Efficiency / Minimize Waste: Work flow and material handling is continually reviewed and improved to maximize throughput and reduce waste.
- Manage and execute organization and housekeeping: All items used in the production function has an identified purpose and location. ALL items in the production areas are kept clean and organized. Bi - Weekly audits are performed by the Plant Manager.
Qualified Candidates must possess:
- Education – College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance preferred; High school diploma or equivalent plus 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience required.
- Proven Leadership skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is preferred.
- Must possess troubleshooting skills with mechanical equipment and be analytical.
- May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in extreme high/low temperatures and a physically demanding environment
- Frequently required to stand for long periods of time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
