Job Summary:
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist supports all product-related compliance activities for the organization, ensuring that materials, components, and finished goods meet global regulatory requirements. This role leads regulatory compliance strategy, identifies regulatory and contractual risk, and partners with cross-functional teams to maintain conformity with standards such as RoHS, REACH, California Proposition 65, US TSCA Section 5 PBT, PFAS regulations, Conflict Minerals, and other emerging environmental, product safety, and federal procurement requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Strategy & Support:
o Supports the company’s global product compliance program, ensuring adherence to RoHS, REACH, CA Prop 65, US TSCA 5 PBT, PFAS restrictions, Conflict Minerals, and other applicable regulations.
o Monitor regulatory changes and emerging requirements; assist in assessing the impact on products, materials, supply chain, and federal contract obligations.
o Develop and maintain regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and documentation.
o Ensure alignment with federal procurement requirements.
2. Material & Supplier Compliance:
o Support collection and review of supplier declarations, material disclosures, and compliance certifications.
o Conduct supplier audits and follow-ups to ensure accurate reporting and regulatory alignment.
o Collaborate with procurement and engineering to qualify compliant materials and components.
o Support contract flow-down requirements and supplier compliance for government-related programs.
3. Product Compliance Support:
o Support internal compliance testing, third-party lab coordination, and technical file creation.
o Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and customer-facing compliance statements.
o Support new product development by reviewing materials and designs for environmental, safety, and federal-contract-related requirements.
o Maintain awareness of product-specific regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA, EPA, CPSC, FDA or other relevant agencies depending on product type).
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Partners with engineering, quality, operations, and other teams to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance considerations are integrated into business processes.
o Assist with training material and provide basis guidance on regulatory requirements, access control, documentation, and federal contract compliance.
o Respond to customer inquiries, audits, and government-related compliance requests.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
o Maintain accurate regulatory compliance records and databases.
o Prepare regulatory reports, declarations, and submissions as required.
o Support annual Conflict Minerals reporting and supplier outreach.
o Support incident reporting, voluntary disclosures, and regulatory inquiries when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in product regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment.
- Background in defense, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or high-tech sectors preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- RoHS
- REACH (SVHC, Annex XVII)
- California Proposition 65
- US TSCA Section 5 PBT rules
- PFAS regulations (state, federal, and international)
- Conflict Minerals
- Experience with material declaration standards and compliance databases.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business processes.
- Familiarity with IA9100 or similar management systems.
