Title: Shipping/Receiving Supervisor
Description: The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor is cross trained to perform and manage all aspects of the shipping and receiving function across multiple facilities.
Duties include:
- Communicate, negotiate, and schedule with transportation companies as needed for shipments and receipts.
- Prepare, stage, and complete shipping and receiving paperwork for all inbound, outbound, and internal transfer shipments. Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers.
- Direct traffic department personnel to ensure and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments and the picking and loading of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible level of productivity and accuracy, including photographing loaded trucks. Physical auditing and spot check loading of outbound shipments to ensure material being loaded matches the paperwork. Discipline/Coaching of Traffic personnel as required.
- Resolve incorrect or missing data with support of Customer Service, Procurement, or customers.
- Load/unload palletized product to/from trucks as needed, as certified fork truck operator.
- Communicate with operations and procurement personnel as needed to support customer expedited orders, receive/label material, cycle count inventory, and organize warehouses.
- Lead daily meetings planning/ coordinating with facility manager & team leads including weekly on-site auditing of quality and safety of all activities, and plant managers requirements.
- Coordinate with various incoming/outgoing traffic such as pallet, concrete, delivery of maintenance materials, vendor deliveries, and scrap/waste pickups. Maintains clean, safe work environment.
- Direct truck traffic internally to docks for loading/unloading or to waiting areas.
Knowledge: A high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous shipping/receiving, importing containers, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, forklift, or other related experience.
Skills/Abilities: Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and ERP systems. Able to perform basic math skills. Read and understand work instructions and shipping documents. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proficiency in communication skills, interpersonal skills, adaptability, ability to learn quickly, initiative, integrity, customer and quality focus, judgment/problem-solving, and safety awareness. Excellent organizational skills, filing, and attention to detail. Works well with others individually and as a team.
Physical/Mental: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects.
