Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence and improve quality of life
- Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively and safely
- Support pediatric occupational therapy sessions focused on childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder interventions
- Help with patient transport within healthcare facilities or home settings to facilitate smooth therapy sessions
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and caregivers to coordinate comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate care documentation, progress notes, and treatment records in compliance with healthcare regulations
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, care plans, and treatment plan implementation
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, geriatrics or pediatric clients is preferred
- Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques for clients with autism and childhood developmental delays
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members to promote understanding and engagement in therapy processes
- Proficiency in handling medical imaging procedures or supporting occupational health initiatives is a plus
