Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant- School-based

TherapyLink, LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide occupational therapy services within a school setting under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). The COTA will work collaboratively with students, educators, families, and school staff to support students' participation and success in educational activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Provide direct occupational therapy services to students individually and in small groups.
• Assist students in developing fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional school participation skills.
• Document therapy sessions, student progress, and service delivery in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress notes and Medicaid documentation when applicable.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, administrators, and families to support student goals.
• Assist the Occupational Therapist with data collection and observations.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as requested.
• Adapt classroom materials and activities to support student participation and accessibility.
• Follow all school district policies, FERPA regulations, and professional ethical standards.
• Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current Missouri state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist students as needed.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the school environment.
• Ability to use technology and documentation systems required for service delivery.

Work Environment

• School-based setting serving students from preschool through high school, depending on assignment.
• Services may be provided in classrooms, therapy rooms, and other educational environments.
