Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process for our therapy services, ensuring accurate coding, timely claims submission, and effective collection of payments. Your expertise will help us maintain smooth financial operations and support our mission to provide exceptional care to our young clients.
Duties
- Review and code medical claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to ensure precise billing.
- Prepare and submit claims electronically through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems while adhering to insurance guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to billing activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist in verifying patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to service delivery.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation of medical procedures and services provided.
- Support the collection process by contacting patients or guardians regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding procedures, and insurance claim processes.
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems is essential.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems used in outpatient therapy or healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of medical records management and medical collection practices.
- Prior experience in a medical office environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are crucial for success in this role.
