Responsibilities
As our Occupational Therapy Team Lead, you'll maintain an active pediatric caseload while serving as a clinical leader for our Occupational Therapy department.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat pediatric patients with a variety of developmental, neurological, orthopedic, sensory, and physical challenges.
- Develop individualized treatment plans that promote independence and participation in daily activities.
- Complete comprehensive evaluations, documentation, progress reports, and re-evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with families and our Speech and Physical Therapy teams to provide coordinated, family-centered care.
- Educate parents and caregivers on home programs and strategies to support continued progress.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services while maintaining excellent patient outcomes.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and mentorship for the Occupational Therapy team.
- Supervise COTAs in accordance with state regulations and best practices.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new Occupational Therapists and COTAs.
- Serve as a positive, approachable resource for therapists seeking clinical guidance and support.
- Foster a collaborative, encouraging culture that promotes teamwork, learning, and professional growth.
- Lead monthly Occupational Therapy team meetings, case discussions, and educational sessions.
- Support therapists in clinical decision-making and problem-solving.
- Help maintain high standards of patient care across the department.
Program Development & Quality Improvement
- Maintain and update Occupational Therapy policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
- Stay current on evidence-based practice, pediatric treatment techniques, and standardized assessments.
- Introduce and implement new clinical resources, assessments, and best practices when appropriate.
- Assist with standardizing documentation and clinical workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to enhance patient care and therapist development.
- Collaborate with leadership to support departmental growth and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current Maryland Occupational Therapy License (or eligible for licensure)
- Minimum of 3 years of pediatric Occupational Therapy experience
- Previous leadership, mentoring, supervisory, or training experience is preferred but not required
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Passion for working with children and supporting fellow clinicians
- Commitment to providing compassionate, family-centered, evidence-based care
