Location: Chandler, AZ (Onsite Role)
Compensation: $30–$35/hour based on experience and certification status
Schedule: Part-Time or PRN (Sessions available Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 7 PM)

As a Music Therapist at Therapy Matters, you’ll bring the power of music to support developmental goals, foster emotional expression, and enhance the lives of children with autism and other developmental needs.
🔑 Key Responsibilities - What You’ll Do
📋 Therapy Implementation
- Design and deliver individualized music therapy sessions to promote communication, social skills, sensory integration, and emotional regulation for pediatric clients, primarily ages 2-8, in our Chandler clinic – and an opportunity to work with older kids in homes
- Use evidence-based music therapy techniques, such as improvisation, songwriting, and rhythmic interventions, to support developmental and behavioral goals.
- Create an engaging, inclusive, and emotionally safe therapy environment to foster client growth and participation.
🩺 Assessments & Documentation
- Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ sensory, motor, communication, and emotional needs through music-based interventions.
- Develop and implement music therapy treatment plans in collaboration with BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, and PTs to align with individualized goals.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and treatment plans, per Arizona DDD guidelines and insurance requirements.
🤝 Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Work closely with families to provide education and strategies that support therapy goals in home and community settings.
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team (ABA, OT, PT, Speech) to integrate music therapy into holistic treatment plans.
- Participate in community outreach to promote Therapy Matters’ services and educate families about the benefits of music therapy for neurodiverse children.

- Adhere to professional, ethical, and facility standards, including safety regulations and clinic policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of music therapy research, best practices, and interventions, particularly for autism and developmental disabilities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to team training initiatives.

- Designing and implementing music therapy interventions tailored to pediatric clients with autism and developmental needs.
- Using musical skills (e.g., voice, guitar, piano, percussion) to engage clients and support therapeutic goals.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families to create client-centered care plans.
- Navigating Arizona DDD guidelines, insurance authorizations, and billing processes.
- Collecting and analyzing data to track client progress and adjust interventions.
- Adapting to both center-based and occasional in-home therapy settings.

📜 Education/Experience and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program.
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC).
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Music Therapist, including experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Experience in ABA therapy settings or familiarity with autism-specific interventions is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in playing musical instruments (e.g., guitar, piano, percussion) and using music therapeutically.
- Familiarity with Arizona DDD guidelines, insurance authorizations, and billing is a plus.
- Availability to work sessions in our Chandler clinic (Mon-Fri, 8 AM–7 PM) with flexibility for occasional in-home visits.
- Warm, engaging personality and commitment to client-centered, neurodiversity-affirming care.
- Maintain a Level 1 Fingerprint Card/Background Check.
