We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to become part of our team! PMHNP will provide medication management to individuals within the state of Virginia through telemedicine and/or in person appointments. Therapeutic Counseling and Consulting is a group practice that is seeking a caring and compassionate PMHNP to join our team. PMHNP will focus on providing high quality patient care as part of a healthcare team. While seeing clients for initial and follow-up appointments and treat individuals with mental health and addiction issues.

Job type:
- Part time to full time salary position
- Start as an hourly employee and will transition to full time (salary) employee as caseload builds
Job Description:
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic, compassionate, and ethical medication management care to all clients.
- Complete psychiatric intakes to include a comprehensive psychiatric assessment and written evaluations within required completion time.
- Obtain comprehensive health histories; perform or request special diagnostic and laboratory tests; interpret test results and develop comprehensive psychiatric treatment plans.
- Prescribe all necessary medications and treatments
- Accurately diagnosis clients based on symptoms, history and psychiatric assessment.
- Ensure client related paperwork is completed to include progress notes, assessments, federal and state mandated forms, release of information, etc.
- Provide medication education and training during group sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality of records.
- Maintain confidentiality while conducting telehealth sessions while having a private and secure office location if working remotely.
- Provide clinical follow up and care coordination with other providers with a release of information.
- Act as an advocate for client.
- Participate in administrative duties and group meetings as scheduled.
- Participate in case consultation as needed.
- Adhere to best care practices, industry standards, organizational guidelines, appropriate accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state laws including HIPAA.
- Comply with all quality improvement practices and procedures.
- Participate in the development of provider relationships with the appropriate entities, i.e., managed care companies; federal, state, and county agencies; and private funding sources
- Provide limited on-call coverage
- Maintain own malpractice insurance and required HR documents.
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
- Communicate with collaborating physician or specialist regarding patient care
Qualifications:
- Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited nursing school
- Active Virginia State NP license and DEA license in good standing
- 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner
- Ability to practice independently or have an established collaborating MD
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities
Preference:
- Experience with child psychiatry and ability to work with ages 10
