The Science team is an expanding, multidisciplinary group operating at the convergence of biology, engineering, and translational science to build novel immune biology–driven capabilities. Our mission is to proactively shape the future of immunologically based therapeutic technologies through rigorous science and innovation.
The Principal Scientist – Immunology role is designed for a seasoned immunologist who excels at dissecting immune system regulation, signaling pathways, and immune cell interactions. This individual will serve as a scientific thought leader, advancing immune mechanism understanding, developing immune biology–driven research platforms, and translating foundational immunology into new technological and therapeutic opportunities. The role requires hands-on scientific leadership, close collaboration with engineers and cross-functional partners, and active mentorship of scientific staff.
Job requirements
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Immunology or a related biological science.
- Extensive postdoctoral and/or industry research experience with deep expertise in immune mechanisms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex scientific programs and influence research direction.
- Strong scientific communication skills and experience in cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work hands-on, full-time onsite in Nashville, TN.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in immune regulation, immunosuppression, or regulatory immune cell biology.
- Familiarity with oncology, cell therapy, transplant immunology, or immune engineering platforms.
- Experience contributing to early technology or platform development.
- A builder’s mindset with enthusiasm for shaping new scientific capabilities.
Job responsibilities
- Design, execute, and interpret complex immunology studies spanning immune signaling, regulation, and cell–cell interactions.
- Elucidate immune mechanisms that inform the development of novel immune-modulating technologies and platforms.
- Drive hypothesis-driven research that advances understanding of immune system function and dysregulation.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate immune biology insights into practical applications.
- Mentor and develop scientists and research staff, fostering scientific rigor and curiosity.
- Ensure high-quality data generation, documentation, and a compliant, safety-focused laboratory environment.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in immunology across multidisciplinary teams.
