Locum Tenens – Cardiovascular Physician Assistant (PA)
Location: Torrance, California
Facility: Providence Little Company of Mary – Torrance
Start Date: ASAP (June 2026 target)
Duration: Ongoing through December 2026 (potential extension)
Reason for Coverage: Vacancy (resignation of main cardiac PA)
We are seeking 1–2 experienced Cardiovascular Physician Assistants to support a busy cardiovascular surgery service. This role includes a mix of inpatient rounding, surgical first assist, and outpatient clinic responsibilities within a well-supported team environment.
Schedule & Call- Floor Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Clinic Hours: ~9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (select days)
- Call Schedule:
- 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 1:2 rotation (shared with one other PA)
- Every other weekend call
- ~2 weekday call shifts per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 8 hours/day
- Overtime: Applies after 8 hours/day
- Post-operative inpatient rounding
- First assist in cardiovascular surgery
- Evaluate and manage patients in outpatient clinic
- Interpret EKGs, X-rays, and lab results
- Participate in call coverage and post-call rounding
- Endoscopic vein harvesting
- Radial artery harvesting
- ECMO management
- IABP & Impella support
- Strong cardiovascular clinical assessment skills
- EMR: Epic (clinic & hospital)
- Facility: 1 hospital (approx. 400 beds)
- Support staff includes physicians, MAs, and full clinical team
- In-house referrals from cardiology group
- Active California PA license
- Active CA DEA
- Cardiovascular surgery experience required
- Certifications: BLS & ACLS (required)
