BDS (Business Development Specialist) Home Health

Location: Richardson, Rockwall, Garland, Mesquite, TX

Overview:

The Home Health Business Development Specialist (BDS) is responsible for driving growth through referral development, strategic marketing, and relationship management within the home health industry. This role builds and strengthens referral partnerships, identifies new business opportunities, and supports patient census growth by promoting home health services to healthcare providers and community partners. The Business Development Specialist collaborates with operational and clinical teams to improve referral-to-admission conversion, expand market presence, and support organizational growth objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute strategic business development and healthcare marketing plans that support referral growth and patient census objectives.
• Build and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, physician practices, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and community organizations.
• Conduct sales calls, presentations, educational programs, and in-service meetings to promote home health services.
• Identify and pursue referral opportunities, market trends, and business growth initiatives within the assigned territory.
• Maintain and grow patient census and referral activity in alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaborate with leadership to support market expansion strategies and business development initiatives.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing materials, campaigns, and outreach activities.
• Support the recruitment, training, coaching, and development of business development personnel when assigned.
• Partner with clinical and operational teams to facilitate efficient referral-to-admission processes and improve conversion outcomes.
• Monitor referral pipelines, lead-tracking systems, conversion ratios, and business development metrics.
• Provide regular reporting and communication regarding market activity, referral trends, growth opportunities, and performance results.
• Represent the organization professionally within healthcare networks and community partnerships.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years of home health business development experience.
• Proven track record of achieving or exceeding admission and census growth goals.
• Strong understanding of home health services, post-acute care, and referral sources, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), physician offices, and community partners.
• Experience developing and executing sales and marketing strategies within an assigned territory.
• Ability to build and maintain strong referral relationships and professional partnerships.
• Experience analyzing market trends, referral patterns, and business growth opportunities.
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Experience training, coaching, or mentoring team members preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM or lead-tracking systems.• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Continuing Education:

• Attends in-service and continuing education programs required for maintenance of any professional certification or licensure.
• Attends continuing education programs as necessary.
