As a CT Technologist in our oncology practice, you’ll play a vital role in delivering compassionate, life-changing care. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

The CT Technologist performs high-quality CT simulation scans for radiation oncology patients to support accurate treatment planning. This role works closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to ensure precise imaging, patient safety, and excellent patient experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Perform CT simulations according to established radiation oncology protocols and physician directives.
  • Position patients accurately using immobilization devices and simulation equipment to ensure reproducibility for treatment.
  • Acquire high-quality CT images for treatment planning, ensuring proper scan parameters and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure optimal imaging for treatment planning purposes, including contrast protocols when required.
  • Verify patient identification and obtain clinical history relevant to the simulation procedure.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate documentation in electronic medical records and simulation records.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the CT simulation suite and equipment.
  • Monitor patients for safety and comfort throughout the procedure and respond appropriately to patient needs.
  • Adhere strictly to radiation safety, infection control, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and support ongoing improvement of simulation processes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team to ensure understanding of the simulation process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical skills in CT imaging and understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing clinical needs.
  • Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (RT(R)) and/or Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Valid state license
  • Prior experience in radiation oncology or CT simulation preferred. (Not required, will train)
  • Experience with immobilization devices and radiation therapy workflows preferred. (Not required, will train)

PHYSICAL WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

This position involves long periods of sitting at a desk, regular computer work, and frequent phone interaction. The role also requires the ability to lift, assist, and position patients as needed in the CT simulation area. The employee must be able to stand for extended periods while operating CT simulation equipment. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds for office supplies or equipment may also be required.
