UX Designer/Developer - Nuclear OS Platform

About The Nuclear Company

The Nuclear Company (TNC) is revolutionizing nuclear power deployment through innovative technology and data-driven processes. We're building the future of nuclear energy with our groundbreaking Nuclear OS (NOS) platform - an AI-driven, real-time software system that transforms nuclear project delivery from a high-risk endeavor into a data-driven, predictable process, enabling TNC to build plants faster, cheaper, and safer than ever before.

About Nuclear OS (NOS)

NOS is a secure, AI-native digital platform developed jointly by The Nuclear Company and Palantir Technologies to transform the deployment of fleet-scale nuclear facilities. It serves as an integrated software system for managing every aspect of nuclear plant construction and commissioning — from design and scheduling to supply chain, field operations, and regulatory compliance.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented UX Designer/Developer to join our Nuclear OS team and help create intuitive, user-centered interfaces for the nuclear construction industry. This role is critical in transforming complex nuclear project management into accessible, efficient digital experiences that will be used by engineers, construction teams, regulators, and project managers across multiple nuclear sites.

Key Responsibilities

User Experience Design

  • Design intuitive interfaces for role-specific applications including Supply Chain and Logistics tracker, Field Operations mobile app, and Safety Monitoring console
  • Create user-centered designs that accommodate the unique needs of nuclear construction professionals
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for complex data visualization and project management interfaces
  • Design mobile interfaces that allow field workers to mark locations on digital drawings, add descriptions and photos, and submit issues instantly for off-site review

Development & Implementation

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement responsive, accessible user interfaces
  • Work within Palantir's technology stack to create seamless user experiences
  • Develop and maintain design systems and component libraries for consistency across NOS applications
  • Ensure interfaces work effectively across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms for field use

Industry-Specific Design Challenges

  • Address the unique challenge that the nuclear construction industry is accustomed to traditional processes and tools, requiring structured training and clear usability for digital system adoption
  • Design interfaces that simplify complex nuclear regulatory compliance workflows
  • Integrating data from traditionally separate silos including engineering plans, project schedules, supply chain information, and safety monitoring

User Research & Testing

  • Conduct user research with nuclear industry professionals to understand workflow requirements
  • Perform usability testing with field engineers, project managers, and regulatory personnel
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback from diverse stakeholder groups
  • Support TNC's unique training programs for each group working with Nuclear OS

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3 years of experience in UX/UI design and front-end development
  • Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Strong front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React)
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development
  • Portfolio demonstrating complex data visualization and enterprise software design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing industrial, construction, or engineering software
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance interface design
  • Experience with Palantir platforms or similar data integration tools
  • Understanding of construction project management workflows
  • Experience designing for field/mobile worker applications
  • Background in safety-critical system interface design
