We are where innovation meets purpose; and where your career can meet purpose as well.  We are looking for a Junior Product Designer to play a key role in shaping modern, intuitive applications that go far beyond traditional dashboards or basic business tools. We encourage you to apply and take the first step in joining our dynamic and impactful company.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept

As a Product Designer, you will play a key role in shaping modern, intuitive applications that go far beyond traditional dashboards or basic business tools. You will analyze existing systems, help develop requirements for new capabilities, and create wireframes and high-fidelity designs to bring clarity to highly complex problems—often involving 3D environments, geospatial data, mapping engines, or spatial workflows. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with a diverse team of designers, developers, and engineers to bring powerful concepts to reality.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate daily with the product team to design unique user experiences through user flows, process flows, and wireframes
  • Build prototypes ranging from low-fidelity sketches to advanced interactive prototypes in Figma to support user research, concept validation, and iterative design
  • Create intuitive and accessible user interfaces that support users with a wide range of technical proficiency
  • Develop, organize, and maintain user guides and related documentation
  • Create and maintain design systems that enable the design team to work more efficiently and consistently
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops, usability testing sessions, and design reviews to gather insights and validate design decisions
  • Engage directly with end users to understand their intent, workflows, and requirements
  • Analyze user feedback and proactively identify opportunities to iterate and enhance the user experience
  • Communicate and present design concepts, insights, and product demonstrations to clients and stakeholders
  • Support the identification and troubleshooting of issues or bugs as needed
  • Partner closely with developers to design feasible features and ensure accurate implementation of design specifications
  • Complete tasks within budgeted time and collaborate with management to escalate project- or task-related concerns when necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design (e.g., Interaction, Graphic, Visual Communications, Product, Industrial), Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of professional experience designing digital products, ideally beyond conventional dashboards or analytics interfaces
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work on interactive, novel, or technically complex applications, such as simulations, modeling tools, mapping interfaces, gaming or 3D experiences, spatial computing, or workflow-intensive professional tools
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated experience designing for multiple platforms, including desktop, mobile, and web
  • Proven experience collaborating within cross-functional product teams
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Resourcefulness with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving project needs and constraints
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • This hybrid role currently requires three days per week in-office (Tuesday through Thursday) at one of our facilities in Nashville, or McLean
  • Must include a URL for an online portfolio in addition to your resume. Submissions without a portfolio will NOT be considered.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing applications involving 3D environments, mapping, simulation, visualization, or geospatial data (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Cesium or similar 3D mapping engines
  • Familiarity with 3D interaction patterns, including camera controls, spatial orientation, layering, and object manipulation
  • Experience working on defense-related or mission-planning products
  • Experience conducting UX research
  • Knowledge of web development concepts (HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, React)
  • Knowledge of 3D tools and workflows such as Blender, Cinema 4D, or Maya
  • Understanding of game design principles or game-engine workflows (e.g., Unity
  • Clearance Requirements
  • Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and willing and eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance at the Secret or Top-Secret level. Existing clearance is preferred.
