Full Job Description
Thee Agency is a highly respected Department of Human Services and Medicaid Sponsored Direct Service Provider. We provide Community Based Supports & Individual Supports all while improving social skills, encouraging community inclusion, and supporting independent life skills. Direct Support Professional Responsibilities (DSP)
· Provide direct support to those with developmental/intellectual disabilities
· Always ensure the safety of each client
· Encourages self-help activities.
· Assist in being a positive role model for each client
· Reports any changes in client's condition or family situation to Senior Manager
· Willing to assist clients in home management functions including but not limited to, light housekeeping, laundry, food preparation, grocery shopping.
· Transports/ meets client in the community to participate in activities or attend appointments.
· Participates in the development of and support of a Person-Centered Plan.
· Willing to cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation.
Direct Support Professional Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Minimum 18 years of age
· Valid Driver's License
· Ability to work within the community or in a home-based setting
· Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
· Ability to handle physical aspects of the job including bending and lifting, as well as engaging in physical activities.
· Display patience and empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.
· Must have the ability to read and write in English.
Due to the nature of our business all employees are required to complete the following:
· A criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served.
· Must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
· A drug test prior to employment, random, and for cause.
· An application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI)
· Consent to exclusionary checks completed initially and monthly as applicable.
Required Training - WE PROVIDE PAID TRAINING
· Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)
· All required DDD trainings through The College of Direct Support (CDS)
· CPR, First Aid, Emergency Procedures, Medication Administration (If applicable)
