Looking for Meaningful Work With a Team That Has Your Back?

Thea's Organizing Services is growing, and we're looking for a dependable, hardworking, compassionate individual to join our team!

We're not your typical organizing company. We help individuals and families navigate overwhelming spaces, challenging circumstances, relocations, and major life transitions.

Our business has three primary divisions:

  • Home Organizing: Helping individuals and families declutter, organize, and create functional, maintainable spaces.
  • Hoarding Services & Support: Working compassionately with individuals experiencing overwhelming clutter and challenging living conditions.
  • Moving Management: Supporting clients through relocations with packing, unpacking, sorting, purging, and setting up their new homes.

Our work goes beyond sorting belongings and clearing spaces. We help people regain control of their environments, reduce stress, and create room for success.

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, approaches challenges with a positive attitude, and genuinely wants to make a difference in people's lives.

We're hiring for the long term! This position begins part-time, with the potential to grow into full-time employment as our company expands and our developing nonprofit, Room to Rise, grows in 2027.

What You'll Be Doing

Every project is different, and your responsibilities may include:

  • Packing & Unpacking: Carefully packing household belongings, unpacking, and assisting with organizing and setting up clients' homes during relocations.
  • Sorting & Purging: Working alongside our organizing team to sort belongings, separate donations, recycling, and trash, and help clients make progress toward their goals.
  • Furniture & Storage Assembly: Assembling furniture, shelving, storage racks, and other organizational products.
  • Donation Management: Sorting, organizing, and preparing donated items at our storage facility for redistribution to community programs.
  • Trash & Recycling Preparation: Bagging, separating, and preparing materials for responsible disposal, recycling, or hauling.
  • Donation Transportation: Potentially driving company trucks to assist with transporting donations and other materials to designated locations, depending on qualifications and training.
  • Team Support: Following project instructions, maintaining safe work areas, and helping the team complete projects efficiently and compassionately.

Important: We are not a traditional moving company. While this position involves physical work, lifting boxes, moving household belongings, and occasionally repositioning furniture, it does not involve the continuous heavy furniture moving associated with professional moving companies.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who brings the right attitude, strong work ethic, emotional stability, and willingness to learn.

Required Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation to travel to client homes, project locations, and our storage facility throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding communities.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry at least 50 pounds as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to learn and consistently practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques. We are happy to provide training!
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks, including bending, kneeling, standing, lifting, and carrying.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
  • A positive mindset and genuine desire to help people improve their situations.
  • Ability to remain level-headed, patient, and calm in emotionally stressful or high-anxiety situations.
  • Kind, respectful, and nonjudgmental when working with clients and their belongings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable working in cluttered, dirty, and occasionally rodent-contaminated environments while following required safety procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, accept feedback, and work collaboratively with others.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing project needs.

Preferred but Not Required:

  • Experience in packing, organizing, furniture assembly, warehouse operations, or similar hands-on work.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools.
  • Experience sorting donations or managing inventory.
  • Experience working in challenging environments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles, if assigned transportation responsibilities.

Experience is helpful, but attitude, reliability, and teamwork matter more to us. We're happy to train the right person!Staying

Calm When Things Get Challenging

Some of our clients are experiencing significant stress, anxiety, or overwhelming life circumstances. Others may struggle with making decisions or letting go of belongings.

We need someone who can remain patient, level-headed, and compassionate, even when the environment or situation becomes stressful.

You will never be expected to manage difficult client situations alone. Our Project Leads provide guidance, direction, and support, and we encourage team members to lean on their Lead whenever a situation becomes challenging.

However, the ability to stay calm, follow direction, and maintain a positive, respectful attitude is essential.

Our clients trust us in their homes during vulnerable moments. We take that responsibility seriously.

A Realistic Look at the Work

We believe in being upfront about what this position involves.

Some days you'll be assembling furniture or storage racks in a beautiful home. Other days you may be sorting donations, packing for a relocation, or helping someone work through years of accumulated belongings.

Occasionally, projects involve unsanitary conditions, rodent contamination, unpleasant odors, or emotionally stressful situations.

We provide training, direction, appropriate safety procedures, and necessary protective equipment for assigned tasks.

Not every environment will be clean or comfortable, but every client deserves dignity, respect, and compassion.

Our goal is to improve people's situations, not judge how they got there.

Schedule & Growth Opportunities

  • Starting part-time, with hours based on project demand.
  • Typical project hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Workdays vary, and we can accommodate established employee availability.
  • Opportunities for additional hours as our business grows.
  • Potential transition into a full-time position for the right team member.
  • Long-term growth opportunities within Thea's Organizing Services and our developing nonprofit, Room to Rise.
  • Employee incentive program with opportunities to earn additional bonuses through individual performance and achievements.

Room to Rise will focus on connecting donated household essentials, furniture, and other useful items with individuals and families facing difficult transitions.

We're looking for someone who is excited about growing alongside both organizations and contributing to meaningful community work.

Our Team Is Everything!

At Thea's Organizing Services, we believe taking care of our team is just as important as taking care of our clients.

We work in challenging environments, and we know that no one person can do everything alone. That's why teamwork, communication, and mutual support are at the heart of how we operate.

We want our employees to feel valued, heard, respected, and supported.

We believe in:

  • Commitment: Following through, being dependable, and supporting one another.
  • Compassion: Meeting people where they are with patience, respect, and understanding.
  • Problem Solving: Working together to create practical solutions in challenging situations.
  • Community: Connecting people, resources, and donations where they can make a difference.
  • Efficiency: Working safely and effectively while maintaining quality and minimizing waste.

We encourage questions, welcome ideas, provide guidance, and believe that every team member contributes to our success.

We don't just want someone who can do the work. We want someone who wants to be part of a team that genuinely cares about one another and the people we serve.Ready to Join Our Team?
