Job Summary
The Tanker Truck Driver is responsible for operating the companies concrete ready-mix truck while transporting and properly unloading materials to and from various locations.
Essential Functions
- Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspection and report deficiencies to shop immediately.
- Report improper operation, faulty equipment and unusual conditions to the Maintenance Manager utilizing the proper vehicle inspection report paperwork.
- Operate truck and pneumatic trailer to and from pre-designated work sites based on daily routing information, following detailed directives on work orders.
- Maintain telephone or radio contact with dispatch to receive additional instructions and changes to work locations etc.
- Ability to differentiate between powdered materials.
- Maintains cognitive awareness of immediate surroundings, ensuring that power lines, trees and other obstacles are accounted for as maneuvering and unloading of materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Responsible to safely and thoroughly comply with all hand signals and movements from co-workers, keeping eye contact when backing up and unloading materials.
- Maintains truck logs according to state and federal regulations.
- Ensures that the truck and pneumatic trailer is thoroughly cleaned and washed after each delivery, or as directed.
- Knowledge of Company services and customer offerings, ability to discuss and recommend solutions, as needed.
- Will be required to work from heights after loading pneumatic trailer.
- Ability to carry 50 lbs.
- All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to light yard and shop maintenance.
Competencies or Experience Requirements
- Class A - CDL License with Tanker Endorsement.
- General knowledge of automated batch plant operations.
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Education Requirements
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Safety
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
Travel
Travel to job sites is required as needed.
