NC State Fair & Event Team Members/Shift Leads — $10–$12/Hour Tip Share
We are hiring 15- 20 hardworking and dependable team members and shift leads for the NC State Fair and other upcoming events!
We are hiring immediately, with event shifts available starting this weekend. Apply as soon as possible to be considered.
This is an exciting opportunity for energetic people who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. During the NC State Fair, we will serve thousands of guests over 11 days. We need people who can work quickly, remain focused, maintain a positive attitude, and provide excellent customer service—even during our busiest rushes.

Pay and Schedule
- $10–$12 per hour, based on position and experience
- Team tip share
- Shifts are approximately 5–8 hours
- Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts are available
- Immediate event shifts starting this weekend for existing events before the fair
- 12-day seasonal opportunity during the NC State Fair
- Potential for continued event employment after the fair
Team Member Responsibilities
- Welcome customers with a friendly and positive attitude
- Take orders accurately and efficiently
- Operate Clover devices and process cash and card transactions accurately
- Recommend menu items and confidently upsell specialty desserts
- Prepare and serve ice cream, milkshakes, sundaes, floats, and specialty desserts
- Work quickly and calmly during high-volume rushes
- Restock toppings, cups, ingredients, and other supplies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace
- Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, storage, and allergy-awareness procedures
- Assist with setup, breakdown, opening, and closing responsibilities
- Support teammates and step in wherever help is needed
Additional Shift Lead Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the team throughout the shift
- Assign team members to registers, preparation stations, restocking, and cleaning duties
- Keep service moving quickly and efficiently during major rushes
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately and presented consistently
- Monitor customer-service standards and resolve basic guest concerns
- Oversee opening, closing, setup, breakdown, and sanitation procedures
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs
- Verify that cash-handling and Clover procedures are followed
- Communicate attendance, performance, operational, or equipment concerns to management
- Set a strong example by remaining dependable, professional, calm, and hands-on

Previous food-service, retail, concession, catering, event, or quick-service restaurant experience is preferred but not required for team members.
Shift-lead applicants should have previous leadership, supervisory, restaurant, retail, catering, concession, or high-volume event experience. They must be confident giving direction, managing workflow, solving problems, and leading by example AND HAVE FUN!
This position requires a serious commitment. The NC State Fair and our community events can become extremely busy, so reliable attendance is essential.
