What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will work closely with our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide outstanding medical care for companion animals while creating a welcoming experience for pet owners.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during patient examinations and treatments
• Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations, diagnostics, radiographs, blood draws, and procedures
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor recovery under supervision
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Perform laboratory sample collection and assist with in-house diagnostics
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records
• Fill prescriptions and prepare discharge instructions
• Educate clients on preventive care, medications, nutrition, and post-operative care
• Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels to ensure a clean and safe environment
• Stock medical supplies and assist with inventory management
• Deliver compassionate care while supporting a positive client experience

QualificationsRequired

• High school diploma or GED
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced veterinary hospital
• Dependable, organized, and team-oriented
• Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

Preferred

• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Animal Care Technician, Kennel Technician, Veterinary Receptionist, or in an animal hospital
• Experience with animal restraint techniques
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology
• Experience with electronic medical records or veterinary practice management software
• Interest in pursuing a long-term career in veterinary medicine
