Job Description
The Y seeks a dedicated, entry-level professional to support the academic and personal development of students in school settings. The Success Mentor manages a caseload of students, builds meaningful relationships, and collaborates with school staff to enhance student engagement, attendance, and overall success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Apply child safety and risk management policies consistently to ensure a safe environment for all students
- Conduct parent/child enrollments at home or school, providing program orientation, safety education, and referrals as needed
- Monitor student attendance, engagement, and progress; provide guidance and coaching to improve outcomes
- Build and sustain trusting relationships with students and families to support mentoring success
- Partner with teachers, counselors, administrators, and community organizations to provide guidance and support
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and academic success
- Provide timely reports and recommendations to program leadership based on student interactions and assessments
- Other duties as assigned
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with assigned students to provide guidance, mentoring, and support
- Observe and assess student engagement, attendance, and academic progress
- Communicate regularly with school staff, families, and Y leadership regarding student needs and program updates
- Provide coaching and problem-solving support to help students overcome challenges
- Coordinate with community partners to connect students and families to resources
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all students
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- At least two years of experience in human services, education, mentoring, or a related field
- Prior experience working with children and adults in diverse, multicultural environments
- Familiarity with mentoring, teaching, or youth development programs preferred
- Bilingual, Spanish, strongly preferred.

- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and be patient with students’ challenges, maintaining confidentiality
- Strong collaboration skills with colleagues, school staff, and community partners
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve using data, identify issues, and implement effective solutions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Google Suite
Salary : $60,000
