Essential Functions
An employee in this class will directly assist Persons Served in accomplishing successful transition into community employment, and will offer follow up services on a long term basis. Responsibilities include developing job placements for employees, teaching interviewing skills, resume development, teaching job responsibilities/job retention skills, on the job training, proper service authorization and documentation and fulfilling any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Supervision Received
The work is performed under the direction of the Executive Director in accordance to established policies, procedures, and objectives. Performance is evaluated by the Executive Director in conference and by written evaluation annually.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Uphold the rights of the individuals served at all times.
Ability to self start
Maintain confidentiality of individual served and other persons receiving services in all settings but especially when assisting with medications or personal care, etc.
Maintain confidentiality of all records, files etc. for all programs.
Ensure that individuals are supervised appropriately and work with individual and employers to develop a safe and supervised work environment.
Support individuals through their daily activities and ensure that such activities are performed in an effort to meet individual goals.
Adhere to The Workshop of Davidson Inc. training criteria and curriculum, including attendance in staff meetings, team building initiatives, and organizational training sessions to improve professional competence. Ability to successfully demonstrate competence in all areas of training and to successfully pass all competency testing and demonstration requirements.
Follow health care regulations, behavior regulations, and individuals written behavior plans.
Communicate professionally and positively with individuals, parent/guardians, caregivers, staff, visitors and other professionals.
Administer simple first aid and assist with medication administration, also demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment in any necessary scenarios
Will abide by, enforce, and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all Workshop safety standards and regulations. Will also assist with emergency management and completion of drills.
Ability to screen and assess referred persons served prior to employment.
Assist persons served with money management as required for job training
Complete and report satisfaction surveys with persons served/guardians
Complete and report data collection for efficiency/effectiveness, demographic or other reports
Maintain CARF requirements, participate in CARF meetings and audit prep, etc.
Participate in committees: QA/QI/CQI, Rights, Corporate Compliance, Risk Management, Strategic Planning, etc.
Assist in special activities and field trips and will ensure safety and well being of persons served at all times.
Pre-job training/education and development activities to prepare a person served to engage in age appropriate and meaningful work-related activities, which may include career/educational counseling, job shadowing, assistance in the use of educational resources, training in resume preparation, job interview skills, study skills, and assistance in learning skills necessary for job retention
Assisting a member to develop and operate a micro-enterprise. This assistance consists of:
- Aiding the member to identify potential business opportunities
- Assistance in development of a business plan, including potential sources of business financing and other assistance
- Identification of the supports that is necessary in order for the member to operate the business.
Coaching and employment support activities that enable a person served to complete initial job or maintain employment such as monitoring, supervision, assistance in job tasks, work adjustment training and counseling.
Train and supervise persons served in a work setting (environments will vary)
Contact potential employers in the community to develop job placements for persons served
Performs the persons served job duties as necessary while providing direct training to the persons served on the job using methods such as modeling, prompting, fading, etc.
Ability to transfer job activities to the person served in a systematic manner and at a pace appropriate to the person served in order for the person served to reach independence.
Teach job responsibilities, job retention skills, and appropriate social skills for relationships with co-workers and supervisors
Complete and submit to supervisor on a regular basis, time sheets and client interaction documentation sheet
Document job training and progress of the employee
Assist in arranging transportation for employees and/or transport employee as needed
Maintain good communication and relationships with employers or supervisors at work sites
Maintain effective communication with the Workshop Administrator and program coordinators to review goals and needs, to update TARS, or Contracts with funding agencies.
Follow NC Employment First principles/Best Practice Models to achieve supported employment success.
Visit each person’s served job site or be with them on the job site as dictated by the Person Center Plan. Service time will be specific to individualized need and what is approved by the Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) or Vocational Rehabilitation approval.
Complete Treatment Authorization Requests as required to maintain valid availability of service provision.
Work with Program Coordinator/ QP and goal plan Team in the development of person centered plans
Document time spent on all aspects of Supported Employment and be able to effectively communicate this information to other agencies such as VR and Cardinal Innovations.
Maintenance of records of persons served to include all necessary and required information
Good computer skills and the ability to use and navigate Voc Rehab and Cardinal Innovations documentation and billing systems
Completion of services notes in a timely fashion and ability to complete billing to outside agencies as required
Advocate for employee at the work site
Provide follow up and/or crisis intervention as necessary
Assist in community resource training for person served
Participate in or conduct meetings with parents or care giver regarding Supported Employment
Develop and maintain a network with other agencies (VR, Cardinal Innovations etc.) in the areas providing similar services
Become knowledgeable about the American Disability Act and provide information to the community
Become knowledgeable about Social Security and SSI benefits and teach persons served/guardian how working can effect benefits.
Attend training on Vocational Skills to include successful interviewing strategies and relevant employment laws such as wage and hour laws
Assure and maintain compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations
Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, trainings, and standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
The ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to instruct persons served on techniques of various jobs
Ability to have good rapport with different supervisors and to be flexible in different work environments
Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in a human services field or a high school diploma and three years of experience in the general workforce, two of which are working directly with members that have behavioral health or developmental disabilities. All staff will be supervised by a Qualified Professional. Experience in providing direct service to populations where extensive coordination and linkage exposure to a variety of types of work is preferred
Must have ability to work effectively with staff and persons served, and have the ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner.
Must be available to work in a variety of locations and employment settings, as agreeable to the person served and ability to be available to work with persons served at a variety of shift times dependent on the individual’s job requirements.
A valid NC driver’s license.
Ability to complete all required trainings within 90 days of employment or before working directly with any person served.
