Job Title: Academic Remediation Coach
Department: Operations
Reports To: Director
Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: $45,000-$52,000

SUMMARY
The primary role of the Academic Remediation Coach is to assist participants to achieve high outcomes in academic performance, retention, pass rates, and participant satisfaction with the course and other WorkPlace programming. The Academic Remediation Coach involves employing evidence-based coaching techniques to aid participants in early identification, intervention, remediation, and other strategies that enhance academic success. The Academic Remediation Coach assist participants employ structured resources and processes and demonstrates a vested interest in their progress, and must have a comprehensive understanding of developmental processes, training programs, and student resources. Furthermore, the Academic Remediation Coach must be analytical, collaborative, and possess a motivational attitude toward their participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide direct support and guidance to participants (16 in age) and their families through a
one-on-one format, virtual or in-person, in areas of academic support, social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
Build rapport with participants.
Help participants identify strengths and weaknesses through evidence-based assessments.
Assist participants with academic and career goal setting.
Promote positive participant habits and other employability skills to ensure their success.
Analyze and assess data and track student progress toward program-related goals.
Connect participants with other resources, as needed.
Prepare lessons, communicate with families regarding individual sessions and schedules, and track progress in our goal-tracking system.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for own work and not required to direct or supervise other personnel but may occasionally instruct or show other employee(s) how to perform the work.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in employment-driven counseling, and/or case management.
Ability to work with and support a diverse customer base.
Ability to motivate participants and establish a supportive professional relationship with participants.
Commitment to assisting low-income and disadvantaged individuals in overcoming barriers to achievement and success in their personal and work lives.
Demonstrate knowledge of labor market trends, in-demand job opportunities, and job growth.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent majoring in Human Services, Counseling, and/or Education and/or three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS
The ability to understand more advanced computer skills and be proficient Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Willingness to master appropriate data and case management systems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Multilingual preferred
Preference is given for training in Motivational Interviewing, Coaching, and/or Professional Accredited Resume Writer (PARW)
