Kids Director (KITW) – Part-Time
Location: Cleveland, Ohio (On-Site)
Department: Ministries
Reports To: Executive Pastor of Ministries
Position Summary
The Central Kids Director (KITW) is responsible for building, leading, and multiplying a high-impact children’s ministry that develops both kids and leaders. This role is not just about programming—it’s about people.
This leader will create a leadership pipeline within Kids in the Word by recruiting, training, and duplicating themselves through others. The goal is to build a ministry where leaders are consistently being developed, deployed, and empowered to lead at a high level.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership Development & Team Multiplication
- Build and sustain a leadership pipeline within KITW
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers with a clear expectation of duplication
- Develop Team Leads and Coordinators from within the Dream Team
- Create clear leadership pathways for growth and progression
- Coach leaders consistently through feedback, development, and accountability
- Measure success by leadership multiplication—not just participation
Volunteer Recruitment & Culture Building
- Own and execute a consistent recruitment strategy
- Identify and invite potential leaders weekly through relational engagement
- Build a culture where serving is purposeful, structured, and life-giving
- Set clear expectations for roles, responsibilities, and standards
- Ensure strong onboarding and assimilation of new team members
- Retain volunteers through vision, care, and leadership development
Ministry Leadership & Experience Design
- Cast vision for a fun, dynamic, and Christ-centered kids environment
- Ensure all experiences are engaging, age-appropriate, and biblically sound
- Oversee classroom environments, small groups, and large group experiences
- Maintain excellence across all environments (check-in, classrooms, transitions)
- Align all programming with The Word Church mission and 7 Bedrocks
Safety & Security Oversight
- Enforce all child protection and safety policies
- Oversee background checks and volunteer clearance processes
- Maintain secure and efficient check-in/check-out systems
- Ensure classroom ratios and safety standards are consistently met
- Build trust with families through visible and reliable safety practices
Family Partnership & Pastoral Care
- Equip parents with tools to disciple their children at home
- Provide consistent communication and updates to families
- Serve as a pastoral presence for children and parents
- Create opportunities for family engagement and connection
- Strengthen the bridge between church experience and home discipleship
Event Planning & Outreach Execution
- Plan and execute key events (VBS, camps, holiday programs)
- Use events as strategic outreach opportunities to reach new families
- Lead volunteer teams in executing high-quality experiences
- Ensure events reflect excellence, organization, and spiritual impact
Administration & Systems Leadership
- Manage scheduling for volunteers and ministry environments
- Oversee attendance tracking and reporting
- Maintain and steward the ministry budget responsibly
- Order and manage supplies for classrooms and events
- Build scalable systems that support growth and consistency
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience & Education
- 1–3 years of experience in children’s ministry, education, or related leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, childhood development, or related field (preferred, not required)
Leadership Competencies
- Proven ability to build and develop teams
- Strong recruitment and leadership multiplication mindset
- Ability to coach, delegate, and develop others effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong relational ability with both kids and adults

Work Schedule
- Part-time, on-site role based in Cleveland, Ohio
- Requires Sunday availability, midweek leadership responsibilities, and key events

Salary : $27,000 - $30,000
