Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Construction Observer to join our team and support a variety of civil and infrastructure projects across Eastern North Carolina. In this role, you will perform on-site inspections, monitor contractor work, and ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. This position offers excellent opportunities for hands-on field experience, and collaboration with engineers, project managers, and clients.
Requirements
- Perform routine and detailed construction inspections to verify conformance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate daily inspection reports, including documentation of deviations, progress, and field changes.
- Examine workmanship of completed and in-progress installations.
- Interpret specifications drawings, and report deficiencies to the Project Manager.
- Serve as a liaison between contractors, clients, and project teams.
- Attend job progress meetings and provide updates.
- Prepare sketches of field modifications and ensure incorporation into project records.
- Safely navigate and inspect construction sites, including traversing rough terrain.
- Maintain assigned equipment in good working conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
- 4–6 years of construction observation, inspection, or related experience (entry-level candidates with relevant training will be considered).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to periodically work nights and weekends as needed for project demands.
- Valid NC driver’s license and safe driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, climb, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to work outdoors in varied weather and site conditions.
