What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant (Budget) position at THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP?
Summary of Duties: Under direct supervision of the Financial Analyst (Budget), the Senior Accountant develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitors capital asset acquisitions, transfers, and dispositions. Maintains depreciation schedules and prepares depreciation journal entries.
• Prepares monthly general ledger closing entries for capital asset transfers and funding.
• Serves as a point of contact for insurance claims relating to general liability and Township assets. Maintains Township insured property schedules.
• Prepares monthly and annual reports, schedules, and budget variance analysis related to capital projects.
• Assists in the preparation, research, analysis, coordination, and publishing of the Township’s annual budget and five-year plan.
• Establishes, maintains and provides training to departments on budget and financial reporting systems.
o Assists departments in annual budget preparation
o Assists departments in preparation of charts and graphs of performance data.
• Assists in preparing audit work papers.
• Assist with preparation of financial modeling and analysis reports.
• Assists with special projects as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education: Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience: Over three (3) years up to and including five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a Texas driver’s license within the first ninety (90) days of employment and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of governmental accounting software. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel—including maintaining spreadsheets, using functions such as SUMIFS, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and creating pivot tables.
