The Witchery is the home of Salem's original broom making and bookbinding workshop spaces, located on Pickering Wharf in Salem, MA. We offer daily broom making workshops, bookbinding workshops, spelljar workshops, tarot readings and live performances -- and crafting kits-to-go!
Retail Clerks at The Witchery is responsible for providing enthusiastic & detail-oriented customer service at the retail desk for check-in procedures, phone calls, emails, and sales. Retail Associates help maintain the shop’s products, merchandise, tools, and cash wrap in the retail space, contributing to efficient facilitation of shop functions. Experience with reception and/or hospitality is strongly preferred.
IMPORTANT: this is a seasonal position for the 2025 season. This position is expected to end by mid-November. There is an expected schedule required for this position, which is non-negotiable and requires: working both weekend days, a 35-hour work week, and working through the entire season (August-November).

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Greeting all customers and crafters in the retail space
- Assisting crafters with checking in for workshops at the retail desk, which includes calling crafters, enforcing policies, and coordinating with the instructors team
- Assist with scheduling crafters and updating the shop calendars
- Answering customer inquiries in-person & via phone call/email/text
- Locating items and materials on behalf of customers
- Ensuring the store is appropriately and neatly stocked with merchandise
- Performing transactions like sales, refunds, and gift card purchases through the POS system
- Contributing to the arrangement, organization, and maintenance of all products and merchandise throughout the day
- Assist with efficient completion of online orders
- Professionally enforce and communicate the official Workshop Policies with customers
- Contribute to the maintenance of shop cleanliness and organization, supporting the team in the completion of respective assignments
Required skills and qualifications:

- Transferable experience retail & reception/hospitality
- Strong attention to detail & clear communication skills
- Self-motivation and the desire for self-development
- Ability to work autonomously when required
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
- High school or equivalent education level
- Stable work history
- Experience with or passion for art, crafting, hands-on creativity!
