The role of Assistant Manager at The Wine Outlet stores in Northern Virginia can be a full-time salaried or hourly position depending on experience. The Assistant Manager’s primary function is to support all store managers in the daily operations of all 3 stores and in the execution of company goals and initiatives. This can include but is not limited to in-store sales and marketing, ensuring the high-quality appearance of the floor and all products in accordance with Company policies, actively enhancing and deepening relationships with customers, scheduling and supervising part-time staff, assisting with and overseeing deliveries, preparing products for display, cleaning, organizing, stocking, and providing expert level management of every part of the store customers see, developing and exhibiting wine and culinary knowledge, and serving as an overall ambassador for The Wine Outlet. This role will be expected to support all three of the stores and all three of the managers as needed. As the business grows, so would this role. Lastly, this role will be best suited to someone who is detail-oriented, a self-starter, excels at time management and customer service, has a clear track record of taking pride in their work, is a team player who respects every single person on the team, and enjoys working in retail. Prior experience in alcohol or food is a plus but not a requirement. References should be available upon request.
Starting hourly rate: depends upon experience, but not less than $20/hr.
Requirements
- Experience in wine, retail, or wholesale (food retail experience a plus)
- Team-oriented; goal-oriented
- Able to work retail hours, which includes varying hours (and evenings) Tuesday through Sunday
- Able to lift and carry 50lbs consistently and reliably
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent cleaning skills
- Friendly and respectful manner
- Customer service focused
- Valid driver’s license
- Access to a reliable car at all times when working
