Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Risk & Regulatory Remediation Consultant to join the Strategic Remediation Control Office at Deutsche Bank. This is a hands-on individual contributor role at the SVP level, requiring a professional who can personally conduct detailed reviews, assess evidence, document findings, and draft written remediation deliverables.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Regulatory Remediation, Credit Risk, Model Validation / Model Risk Management, Risk Governance, and Controls Assurance, with proven experience performing Independent Review & Challenge (IRC) of remediation plans, regulatory responses, and closure documentation within a banking environment.

This role will partner closely with senior stakeholders across Risk, Finance, Compliance, Audit, Technology, and Business teams to strengthen Deutsche Bank’s regulatory compliance posture and remediation framework.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Remediation & Independent Review

  • Personally perform independent review and challenge of:
  • Regulatory responses
  • Remediation action plans
  • Closure documentation
  • Regulatory remediation program deliverables
  • Identify gaps, weaknesses, and control deficiencies before formal submission to regulators
  • Provide detailed written feedback and recommendations to improve remediation quality and completeness
  • Validate remediation outcomes and ensure evidence supports sustainable implementation

2. Financial Risk & Model Risk Oversight

  • Conduct hands-on review of remediation activities related to:
  • Credit Risk
  • Market Risk
  • Liquidity Risk
  • Treasury Risk
  • Model Risk Management / Model Validation
  • Regulatory Capital
  • Assess the effectiveness of financial risk frameworks, governance structures, and control enhancements
  • Evaluate whether remediation activities address root causes and meet regulatory expectations

3. Risk Governance, Controls & Assurance

  • Evaluate:
  • Control design
  • Operating effectiveness
  • Risk mitigation strategies
  • Governance enhancements
  • Ensure remediation programs demonstrate measurable risk reduction and a stronger control environment
  • Support controls assurance, closure validation, and quality review activities through detailed analysis
  • Review evidence packages and test results to confirm remediation sustainability

4. Regulatory Advisory & Written Deliverables

  • Advise business, finance, and risk teams on:
  • Regulatory expectations
  • Remediation strategies
  • Risk governance improvements
  • Control enhancements
  • Interpret regulatory guidance and translate it into practical remediation expectations
  • Draft and review written deliverables including challenge memos, remediation observations, and closure assessments

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Partner closely with:
  • Risk Management
  • Compliance
  • Finance
  • Internal Audit
  • Technology
  • Business Leadership
  • Present findings, recommendations, and challenge outcomes to senior stakeholders and management committees
  • Escalate critical issues, control gaps, and remediation concerns in a timely manner

6. Regulatory Framework & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply regulatory guidance including:
  • SR Letters
  • FFIEC
  • EBA Guidelines
  • PRA Guidance
  • Ensure remediation initiatives align with regulatory expectations, industry best practices, and internal governance standards
  • Support regulatory transformation efforts by improving the quality of remediation programs and closure documentation

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience within a financial institution, with strong preference for backgrounds in:
  • Credit Risk
  • Model Validation / Model Risk Management
  • Proven track record of personally conducting:
  • Independent reviews
  • Evidence assessment
  • Findings documentation
  • Written remediation deliverables
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Regulatory Remediation
  • Risk Management
  • Internal Audit
  • Banking Consulting
  • Regulatory Agencies
  • Experience working with or responding to regulators such as:
  • Federal Reserve (FRB)
  • OCC
  • FDIC
  • Similar banking regulators preferred

Financial Risk Expertise

Strong practitioner-level knowledge of:

  • Credit Risk (required emphasis)
  • Model Validation / Model Risk Management (required emphasis)
  • Market Risk
  • Liquidity Risk
  • Treasury Risk
  • Regulatory Capital

Regulatory & Controls Experience

Hands-on experience with:

  • Regulatory Remediation

  • Closure Validation
  • Regulatory Responses and Remediation Plans

  • Strong executive stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and effectively
  • Strong conflict management, problem-solving, and escalation skills
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor, even at the SVP level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation or regulatory transformation initiatives
  • Experience within large global banking organizations
  • Consulting background with Big Four or regulatory consulting firms
  • Prior experience as a bank examiner, regulator, or supervisory professional
