About the Role
As a Van Driver, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safe transportation of children to and from our childcare facility. Your commitment to safety and attention to detail are paramount in providing a secure and reliable transportation service for our young passengers.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and hazard-free transportation vehicle.
- Ensure children are received by authorized persons.
- Maintain stocked and securely mounted first-aid kit.
- Keep updated emergency contact information for children during transport.
- Prevent children from being left unattended in the vehicle.
- Obtain written permission from parents for transportation.
- Ensure proper restraint of children in vehicles.
- Ensure medication from parents is handed directly to the teacher.
- Stay informed of children's special needs.
- Maintain functional communication devices for emergencies.
- Assist as needed with arriving and departing procedures
- Assist with maintaining facility grounds and other miscellaneous duties
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years or older, or a duly licensed school bus driver.
- Valid driver's license of the type required under North Carolina Motor Vehicle Law for the vehicle being driven or comparable license from the state in which the driver resides.
- Must have exceptional driving record
- No convictions of Driving While Impaired (DWI) or any other impaired driving offense within the last 3 years.
- Eligibility to work with children in the state of North Carolina based on a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in transportation or a childcare-related field.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Knowledge of child safety protocols and procedures.
- Experience working with children with special needs or medical conditions.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with parents and caregivers.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations regarding transportation and childcare.
- Training in crisis management or emergency response.
- Experience using communication devices such as two-way radios or mobile phones.
