The Williamsport Home is seeking an experienced Central Supply Clerk.
Day shift, Mon-Fri, one weekend per quarter
Position Summary: Responsible for ordering nursing and ancillary supplies and/or equipment.
Responsibility:
- Orders nursing and ancillary supplies and/or equipment so as to maintain a proper inventory, adequate to meet the needs of each resident on a continuum.
- Maintains department budgets within established parameters.
- Processes charge slips according to facility policy and procedures.
- Inventories stock areas so as to monitor usage and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies/equipment.
- Develops and maintains various records/reports of central supply activities and reports the same to the Fiscal Officer/DON/Administrator as necessary.
- Solicits cost-effective purchasing plans and keeps department directors and Administrator advised of the same.
- Generates purchase orders through the computer based system.
- Manages resident weight program—advises dietician of significant weight changes.
- Backs up staffing scheduler in her absence.

- Assumes all other duties as assigned
- Maintains a professional, customer-oriented demeanor at all times
- Works within a team concept and is thus cooperative with co-workers and peers
- Maintains confidentiality of information
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, carrying objects,(up to 50 lbs.) overhead, lateral and low reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending and hand/arm/finger usage.
Frequent stepping downward and squatting. Push/pull 95-300 pounds wheel weight. Infrequent sitting.
Environmental Conditions:
- Works mainly in facility’s supply department located in the basement
- Hard floor surfaces;
- Is subject to interruptions;
- Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and visitors;
- Works beyond normal working hours when necessary;
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs and meetings;

Qualifications:Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English;
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Ability to recognize and report changes
- Computer knowledge required – ability to use Excel, Word and Access
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions as given.
